Watering Schedule

Maintain consistent soil moisture for maximum biomass. The first irrigation should be applied 20 to 25 days after sowing. Depending on soil type and weather, follow a schedule of every 12 to 15 days. Critical stages for watering include the knee-high stage, tasseling, and silking to ensure the fodder remains juicy and nutrient-rich.

Correct Quantity

For a dense and high-yielding forage cover, use a seed rate of 8 to 10 kg per acre. Ensure a spacing of 45 cm between rows and 20 cm between plants. This optimal density prevents weed growth and encourages the development of thick, succulent stalks that are easy for cattle to digest.

Nutrition Plan

Apply a balanced basal dose of 50 kg DAP and 25 kg Potash at the time of land preparation. Follow up with 25 kg Urea at the knee-high stage and another 25 kg Urea during the pre-tasseling stage. Using Zinc Sulphate (5-10 kg) is highly recommended to improve the greenness and protein content.
